A practicing member of another Law Society that has signed on to the National Mobility Agreement can transfer and become a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador pursuant to the terms of the Mobility Agreement and Rule 7.11(A). Please note that a lawyer seeking to transfer to Newfoundland and Labrador in this manner must maintain practicing status with their home Law Society until being Called to the Bar in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Form 7.11 (A), Form 7.11 (B), and Declaration – Transfer must be completed and sent to the Education Committee for approval. Once the transfer application has been approved by the Education Committee, reading materials will be forwarded to the applicant for review. Upon completing the reading requirement, the applicant will be required to complete the Declaration – Reading Requirement and submit it to the Law Society in order to be eligible to be Called to the Bar.
There are four Call to the Bar ceremonies each year – February, April, June, and October.
